Explosion Isolation Valve
An explosion isolation damper is a safety device designed to prevent the spread of explosions in industrial systems that handle combustible dust or gases. It is typically installed in ductwork and ventilation systems to isolate sections of a plant in the event of an explosion. When an explosion occurs, the damper quickly closes, creating a barrier that contains the explosion and prevents flames, pressure, and hazardous materials from propagating to other parts of the facility. This helps protect equipment, reduce damage, and enhance overall safety by mitigating the risk of secondary explosions.
The valve is held open by a lever arm. It can be used both at the entrance and at the exit of the filter. This allows isolating the filter from an explosion or an overpressure.
In case of an explosion, the valve closes and remains locked preventing the progress of the flame. The unlocking of the flap is done manually.
